2016 Guidance Principles for Sustainable Management of Secondary Metals

Turning waste into resources for development

CAREY Research & Consulting (CRC) is working with E4tech (www.e4tech.com) and the Swiss-based World Resources Forum to draft a set of Guidance Principles (GPs) for the sustainable management of secondary metals.  The objective is to improve working conditions and labour practices for workers (predominately in developing countries) collecting, processing and recycling metals (e.g. gold, platinum, copper, etc.) from the e-waste e.g. mobile devices, computers, tablets, etc. The ISO International Workshop Agreement (IWA) Workshop No. 1 was held at the Davos Conference Centre, Davos, Switzerland 14, 15 & 16 October 2015. The first draft of the Guidance Principles V1.0 has been launched for public consultation.  The development of the GPs will also follow the ISEAL Alliance set of Codes of Good Practices. To review and comment on the draft and for further information please see Guidance Principles for the Sustainable Management of Secondary Metals .
